Only hardcore fans like myself, recognize a doomsday 3 defense in Dallas cowboys history, jimmy johnson built a dynasty and Barry Switzer inherited a stacked team in the 96 season, Charles Haley, and Thomas Everett were the major free agent signings, draft picks Darren Woodson, Kevin smith , Larry brown( Super Bowl 30 MVP ) Russell Maryland, Leon lett, Jimmie jones, tony Tolbert, and a slew of playmakers, enabled the cowboys to be the only team in nfl history to win 3 Super Bowls in a 4 year span , oh, and that damn legendary offense helped that happen too...
The cowboys doomsday defense from 1976-1982 had a few members from the original doomsday, they won Super Bowls as well, new members were Hollywood Henderson, and ed too tall jones, Harvey Martin and randy white, the db's I can think of are everson walls, and Benny Barnes , great group , too bad about the NFC championship game loss in 1982 to the 49er's... The first doomsday defense for the Dallas cowboys was badass, Tom Landry , was a defensive genious, lots of legends and hall of famers were part of the original doomsday defense, like Mr. Cowboy, bob Lilly, he was a lineman , and chuck howley, linebackers Leroy Jordan , and Knoxville, tn native, d.d. Lewis, the defensive backs were, Mel renfro, herb adderly, and cliff Harris , great teams , coach Landry had during this era... The defensive line of the 1963 and through part of the seventies of the Los Angeles rams was known as the fearsome foursome( other nfl defenses claimed the title through history as well) they were the 60's version of the Pittsburgh steelers steel curtain, legends and hall of famers, Rosie Grier , Lamar Lundy, deacon jones and Merlin Olson , deacon jones invented the phrase sacking the quarterback, he never got the credit for his 173 career sacks because sacks were not counted as a stat until 1982, they deserve a lot more credit than what they received ... The 1977 Atlanta falcons defense is arguably the best defense to ever take the field in nfl history, they allowed 129 points across a 14 game regular season, the grits blitz hardly ever gets recognition, but, defensive coordinator jerry glanville would frequently put 9 defenders in the box, and sometimes all 11 would blitz, sadly, the offense was horrible, and the team went 7-7 The 1970's Pittsburgh steelers and their legendary steel curtain defense, centered around the front four of mean joe green, Dwight white, l.c. Greenwood and Dwight white, they were badass and helped the steelers win 4 Super Bowl titles in the 70's Chief noc- a- homa is a very important part of the Milwaukee/Atlanta braves he was a fixture at braves games from the 50's up until 1986 , at Fulton county stadium he had a teepee in the left field bleachers, and following a braves home run he would come out and dance, be nice to bring this part of braves history back... One of the first 10-15 things I would do after, winning a powerball jackpot , would be to drop everything and attempt a thru- hike of the a.t. This album had two titles, in America it was titled hell bent for leather , in other countries it was known as killing machine , this was the first priest album to lean toward a more mainstream sound , I like the song take on the world, hell bent for leather , and the green manalishi isn't bad either... Classic album from 1980, living after midnight, and breaking the law are on this record, heavy and catchy at the same time , this album is... |
